Fundacja Wyspa Wolności is launching a new three-month project, “Warsaw — Our Place. The City Through the Eyes of Young Residents”, supported by the City of Warsaw.

The main idea behind the project is to give young residents of the capital an opportunity not only to discover the city better, but also to show Warsaw as they see it themselves.

The project brings together young people aged 14–21 from Poland, Ukraine, Belarus and Georgia. They will work together in the format of an intercultural media lab: exploring the city, meeting one another, learning how to create contemporary media content, and sharing their own stories about life in Warsaw.

What will happen during the project?

Participants will take part in four urban expeditions, during which the group will explore places connected with culture, sport, education and other areas that are important to young people living in Warsaw.

Another important part of the programme will be practical media workshops involving photographers and digital content creators. Participants will work with storytelling, mobile photography, video and audio formats — not only in theory, but directly in practice.

The result of this work will be a digital multilingual guide to Warsaw with QR codes, created by young people for young people. It will include places to meet and relax, useful locations around the city, spaces connected with different interests and other information that may be valuable both for those who have lived in Warsaw for a long time and for those who are only beginning to discover the city.

Participants will also create a series of short videos and mini-podcasts, and the project will conclude with a joint presentation of the results.

For WYSPA, this project is another step towards creating a space where young people from different countries and with different life experiences can meet, work together, understand the city they live in more deeply and feel that they are part of it.

Participation in the project is free of charge. Places are limited, and submitting the registration form does not automatically guarantee participation — the team will contact selected participants individually.

The “Warsaw — Our Place” project is co-financed by the City of Warsaw.
